Before you buy

What it is not.

It is not earlier than the press. That was measured across sixty filings and it was false, so it is not claimed. It is not every company in your sector, only the ones that filed. It is not a guarantee anybody wants to hear from you. And a tranche is not a round: companies draw down in instalments, so the figure is what one filing says and nothing more.

What it is: a few dozen real businesses that just did something, most of which nobody wrote about, with enough detail to make a call this morning.

Questions

The obvious ones.

What exactly do I get?

A spreadsheet and a PDF, emailed to you. One row per company: the name, what they do, the amount on the filing, how old the company is, the directors named on the filing, a contact route where one is published, whether any news coverage was found, and a link to the filing itself so you can check the working.

How many companies is that?

It depends on the sector and it is growing every week as the archive deepens. Engineering and deep tech is currently 34. Consumer and retail is 38. If your sector is thin this week, say so and pay nothing.

Is this a subscription?

No. One payment, one list, no account, nothing recurring. If you want it every week there is a subscription, but you do not have to start there and most people should not.

Where does the data come from?

Share allotment filings at Companies House, read directly. Holding companies and investment vehicles are removed, which is most of the work. Source data is Crown copyright, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Does it tell me about raises before the press?

No. That was the original claim and it was measured false across sixty filings, so it is not made any more. What is true is that about three quarters of these filings have no news coverage found at all, which is a different and more useful thing.

What if it is rubbish?

Reply to the email and you get your money back. No argument and no form.

100 companies took the money last week. Three in four never told anyone.

The next register is published Monday. Read last week’s first — there is nothing to enter and nothing to book.
