A Beauhurst alternative, if all you need is who just raised.
Beauhurst is a serious product and a good one. It is also £24,500 a year for five seats, on a twelve-month contract, and you cannot see it without booking a demo. If you only ever use the funding data to decide who to call, there is a cheaper way to get it.
The honest summary
They are not the same product.
Where Beauhurst is genuinely better
- Ten years of history, not one week at a time
- Investor profiles, funds, and who backed whom
- Grants, academic spinouts, accelerator cohorts
- A research team verifying records by hand
- Search, filters, saved lists, exports, an API
- Coverage far beyond equity allotments
If you use those, stay with Beauhurst. Nothing here replaces them.
Where Priorfile wins
- £299 a month against £24,500 a year
- One seat, not a five-seat minimum
- Your sector only, so Monday takes four minutes
- Director names on every row, from the register
- An announcement check on every row
- Cancel any time, readable before you pay, no demo
If you only ever open the funding list, this is the same underlying filing, cut for your desk, at a fraction of the cost.
Side by side
The arithmetic that matters is per seat.
Comparing a monthly price to an annual one flatters whoever quotes monthly. Per seat, per year, is the only fair comparison — and it is the one that decides budget approval.
| Seats | Priorfile | Beauhurst | Per seat, per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | £3,588 / yr | not offered | £3,588 vs — |
| 5 | £10,788 / yr | £24,500 / yr | £2,158 vs £4,900 |
| 10 | £18,000 / yr | £40,000 / yr | £1,800 vs £4,000 |
Beauhurst figures from the published G-Cloud 14 framework pricing document, September 2025, revised November 2025. Public-sector rate; commercial pricing is not published.
Choosing
Which one is right for you.
Choose Beauhurst if…
You research companies in depth, need historic coverage and investor relationships, have five or more people who will genuinely use it, and have £24,500 in the budget.
Choose Priorfile if…
You want to know who in your sector just got funded so you can call the director, you are one to ten people, and you would rather spend the other £15,000 on something else.
Choose Funding Spotter if…
You want to browse every detected round, investor portfolios and a map for £100 a month and do the filtering yourself. The honest comparison is here.

Questions
The ones people actually ask.
Is Priorfile a direct replacement for Beauhurst?
No, and it would be dishonest to say so. Beauhurst covers far more ground: growth signals, investor profiles, grant awards, academic spinouts, hiring data and a decade of history, verified by a research team. If you need all of that, Beauhurst is the better product.
Priorfile does one thing: it tells you which UK companies in your sector filed a share allotment last week, who the directors are, and whether anyone announced it. If that is what you actually use, you are paying a great deal for the rest.
Where does Beauhurst get its funding data?
From the same public source. A UK company issuing shares must file an SH01 at Companies House within one month, and that filing is a public record under the Open Government Licence. Every provider in this category, Priorfile included, starts there.
Does Beauhurst also see unannounced raises?
Yes. Beauhurst has tracked unannounced fundraisings from the same filings for years and says so. Priorfile does not claim to be alone in reading the register. It claims to be the version a five-person desk can afford and will actually open on a Monday.
Why is Priorfile so much cheaper?
Because it does far less. Beauhurst employs around 128 people and turns over roughly £10m, much of it spent on human verification and enrichment across a very wide dataset. Priorfile publishes one weekly list per sector and nothing else.
Can I see Priorfile before I pay?
Yes. The most recent register is on this site, unlocked, with no sign-up. Beauhurst requires a sales demo before you see the product.
What does Beauhurst actually cost?
Beauhurst does not publish commercial pricing. The public-sector rate on the G-Cloud 14 framework is £24,500 a year for up to five users, rising to £40,000 for ten and £63,000 for twenty, with a twelve-month minimum. Commercial pricing may differ — ask them.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Priorfile is monthly and you can cancel at any time. There is no minimum term and no notice period.
100 companies took the money last week. Three in four never told anyone.
The next register is published Monday. Read last week’s first — there is nothing to enter and nothing to book.
